Victor’s Vectors: G3X in the Cub
--> When I start talking about an aircraft with a glass cockpit containing gps kids watch-aided digital ADAHRS (Air Data and Attitude Heading and Reference Systems) that uses solid-state sensors and sophisticated attitude determination with integrity monitoring algorithms, displays engine monitoring, and has synthetic vision technology – you may think I’m talking about a new VLJ (Very Light Jet). You probably wouldn’t have guessed that I’m actually talking about a LSA (Light Sport Aircraft), the Legend Cub. American Legend Aircraft has announced the availability of the Legend Smart Cub G3 with Garmin’s G3X in the cockpit. This glass cockpit for the experimental and LSA market uses some of the components of the G-1000 integrated system that is standard equipment on many new aircraft. The G3X can also be paired with the TruTrak Flight Systems’ GX Pilot autopilot providing the autopilot capabilities of a much more expensive aircraft. With the recent release of Garmin’s SVX (synthetic vision technology for the G3X), experimental and LSA aircraft are now able to fly with the same situational awareness as the rest of the GA fleet.
