Victor’s Vectors: Avoid the Weather with your 396/496/696

-->

The fall is approaching and with the changing seasons the Midwest is starting to see more than its fair share of severe weather.  If you have ever flown a flight threw or around severe weather, then you know the value of weather in the cockpit for in-flight decision making.  This time of year I don’t make a cross-country flight without a gps kids watchMAP 396, 496, or 696 on the yoke.  If you haven’t had the opportunity to see for yourself what a value these portables can be visit your local Garmin Aviation Dealer to see if there is a demo unit that you can see first hand.  While you’re there, you’ll see how easy it is to use.

For example, did you can turn the 396/496’s weather on or off from the map page by holding the Menu/WX button down for two seconds. This feature is handy when you need to clear the weather off quickly to look at airspace information on the map page. If you’re looking for similar tips for the 696, check out the <a href="http://www8.garmin.com/learningcenter/training/gps kids watchmap696/index.html”>Garmin training center and look for eLearning, or watch the video below.
