Team Garmin: Tour of Missouri begins, Wiggins wins national title

WATSON_DANIELSON_00002112-017VdVpodium With Tour of Missouri beginning in St. Louis today, we had to take a moment to relive the glory of last year’s race, in which Team Garmin stormed the time trial, taking four of the top nine spots, including a convincing victory by Christian Vande Velde. Christian’s margin stood up to four days of challenges, and – as you can see here (and from the video below)  he finished the week wearing the yellow jersey … and a huge smile.

Christian leads an All-American argyle armada into action for this week’s Tour of Missouri, which wraps up in the Kansas City metro area, home of Garmin International’s headquarters. You can bet we’ll have plenty of coverage from our video crew and blog team, including a special appearance by the team at Garmin HQ a week from today.

Meanwhile, other members of Team Garmin are making news an ocean away. Bradley Wiggins, fresh off his top-four finish in France, dominated the British time-trial championship with a winning time of more than 2 minutes faster than the runner-up. And at the season’s final grand tour, Tom Danielson is still in the mix for a podium spot at Vuelta a Espana. Danielson (above left), who has two previous top-10 finishes in Spain’s premier event, is currently fourth overall at 51 seconds back.
