Having trouble with dogs, which mentions too far?

It is the French firm Num’axes with the telling slogan “Nature & Technologies”, that will solve the temporary dog-less dog owners problem.

Using a collar equipped with GPS, the collars – and thus (hopefully) also the dogs – position over the mobile network to a dog collar position provider.

DPS does not only show the dog’s exact position, but also how far the dog is from its rightful owner.

There is also an opportunity to follow the dog’s movements on Num’axes website of the DPS owners.

The imagination is overwhelmingly in the French firm.

The dog is barking – underground

Contact Pro version of the DPS is equipped with a barking indicator.

So the dog owner does not only where the dog is, but also if the dog is barking.

But it does not stop here.

The French firm also offers a ULS – Underground Location System.

So if your terrier is chasing moles and have dug itself into the lawn, under the neighbor’s fence and is now trying to create the tunnel to a nearby country, then the ULS system can locate the terrier again.

The underground-dog collars site submits higher and higher frequencies, the closer you get to the digging terrier.

So forget metal detectors. In the future we will see people walking around on the beach – not searching for money, but missing terriers.

But there is more.

Train the dog with stimulants
Built in the DPS is a so-called GeoFence system where the dog owner can define prohibited and permitted zones.

If the dog enters into one of the prohibited areas the dog owner will receive an alert on his mobile phone.

It is not clear whether GeoFence a downgraded version of Canifugue – pet fencing.

Here the dog is warned with a beep if it is moving towards a prohibited area.
If it continues, then it is “corrected it with a stimulation” as it says on the web site.

PS. The British, who after all love their animals – but perhaps not their children? – has taken it a step further.
They do not use DPS to their dogs, but RFID tags for their children.

As far as I know, the English system is not expanded, with a “corrective stimulus” if the children are not where they are expected to be…

But now there is help for the cyclists, who often drive the wrong way. Garmin is launching a special version of their popular Nüvi series, which is intended for bike people. Popular said, Garmin has taken the Nüvi and made it waterproof, and fitted it with the possibility of both topographical maps and nautical charts. In the Nüvi is a new 2009 European map from Navteq. As available accessories are bike / scooter-fitting, TMC, extra battery and bag.

The operation of the Nüvi 550 keeps Garmin’s excellent user interface, where the operation is simple. GPS can be configured for use either by running, by walking, biking or at sea – sailing.

No water freight
The ability to move the Nüvi between mountain bike, car and yacht require high levels of sustainability. Garmin already produces a range of outdoor products, and the new Nüvi 550 draws on experience from those. Thus, the waterproof and meets IPX7 standard. This means that it is able to lie in the water for up to 30 minutes, without taking damage.

Unlike in the car, it is difficult to get your GPS charged when bicycling. Hence the greater demands on the battery. According Garmin itself, the battery time on Nüvi 500-series is up to four hours, which probably covers most exercise cycling needs.

The so called Xplorer shoe has acording to the company behind it the strongest GPS tracking device on the market. The build in transmitter is so small, that in can be build in with antenna into the heel of a shoe. A small battery sends out signals for several days without recharging. That means that you can easily follow the shoes where abouts on a computer.

Red and green zones
On the companys web page you can at the same time set up different zones in your local neighbourhood – safe green zones and in secure red zones, and have the GPS kids tracking decive alert you. For instance you can get a call on your phone, if the shoe enters a red, not safe, zone. You can the log into your computer and check the position of the shoe. You can also set up a green perimeter around your house and get alerted if this boundary is broken.

Critial voices
