Garmin Connect: Streamlining and simplifying Reports
-->
When we started developing Garmin Connect, one of the goals for the new Reports section was to streamline and simplify them so that you would be able to get the most relevant information quickly and easily.
To get started with Reports, simply select the summary report you want to view. From the main menu (Progress Summary) you can select to view an overall summary grouped by week, month, or year. You can also narrow the report down to view Activity or Event Type. This general report currently focuses on the current year, unless otherwise specified.
Once you’ve checked out the Summary Reports you can get more detailed by setting different date ranges as well as dialing in to specific Activity Types. We made setting the date parameters easy by providing a drop down tool on the Custom Dates selection. (That way you don’t have to keep clicking the “previous” and “next” arrows for a span of 5 years.) After you select Custom Dates, click on the month at the top of the calendar; the month and year list will drop down and you’ll be able to quickly make your selection. Other time frames include the last 24 hours, last 7 days, last 30 days, and the last 365 days.
Once you’ve selected your dates you can get reports on general (“parent”) Activity Types like running, cycling, and swimming. Or, you can choose from your specific (“child”) Activity Types like street running or cross country skiing. This is great for multisporters wanting to track each activity separately.
The default metrics provided for Reports were selected based on what we’ve seen customers use most. If these aren’t enough for you, you can customize the metrics you see in the Reports. Click on the Customize button, then Add and Remove metrics. You can even choose the order in which metrics are listed on the page.
Once you have a Report set with the time frame, activities and metrics that matter most, you can export it to a CVS file, or print the reports from the Reports screen.
We’ll be making even more improvements to the Reports section in the future. For now, enjoy this streamlined, easy to use tool to get the most out of your hard work!
