The following message distributed by the International GNSS Service (IGS) is a first-hand account from Hayo Hase, who heads the Geodetic Observatory TIGO at Concepción, Chile, in the aftermath of the February 27 earthquake. The devastating magnitude 8.8 earthquake is one of the strongest earthquakes ever recorded. The Geodetic Observatory TIGO has been operating since 2002, but has faced funding difficulties.
