Edge500argyle Today’s question provides unique insight into how professionals benefit from the same technology available to everyday cyclists and casual commuters. We asked three gear gurus on Team Garmin about how they use their <a href="http://garmin.blogs.com/my_weblog/2010/03/argyle-style-for-gps kids watch-with-team-garmin-versions-of-edge-500-and-n%C3%BCvi-.html” target=”_blank”>Garmin Edge 500 or Edge 705 in different training and raceday conditions, from time trials (TT’s) to mountains to the classics. Here are their unfiltered answers, along with a tutorial for customizing your own training pages.    

Christian Vande Velde replied within a half-hour: TT’s keep it simple- Speed, wattage. Training. The more info the better. But I make a lap page for looking at intervals afterwards. Racing-time, distance, heart rate and power. But mostly I need the distance. The other stuff is irrelevant in a race.

Dave Zabriskie chimed in shortly after: Mine is always setup with time,power, and HR…on the next screen I have all the all the averages and KJ’s…Usually for a TT I have it setup with time and speed…
